Creating an Art Project with the iWeld Laser Welding System is Easy
New LaserStar Technologies customer Brian Bartholow of Leff Optical in Dallas, TX recently contacted us to share a project that he had created using his new iWeld laser welding system. Brian purchased his iWeld in March of 2011 to use in his eye frame repair business. After his laser welding training, he needed a project so he could practice using his iWeld and learn how to laser weld.
Trying to be environmentally conscious, he decided to use some broken eyeglass frames that had been lying around the shop for the past 30-40 years. The finished project (shown here) was 100% laser assembled and is almost completely made of discarded eye frames, with the exception of the wheels (which are ball bearings) and the LEDs he used for the lighting.
"I consider myself an eyeglass mechanic and my iWeld laser welder is my favorite tool, says Brian. "Once Giles Pope, Director of Education, taught me what to look for during my LaserStar laser training and how to tweak the iWeld, I quickly started making eyeglass repairs that were impossible or ugly with the torch. The laser welder makes strong, small and invisible repairs possible in every material I have come across. The iWeld let's me stand out and be different from my competition."
